Jakey1995 Report post Posted November 20, 2013 I purchased a over the counter tag for Archery. I am planning on going to unit 19A . The whole month of January is open and the deer are rutting then. I do not have a lot of experience hunting in this unit and I have never hunted from a tree stand; which I feel would probably be my best bet. I bought a 21' ladder type stand which will take at least 2 people to set up. I hunt by myself. I am doing some scouting and know where there are 2 water holes and was thinking of hunting within a mile radius of these water holes. Any advice or comments would be appreciated. Thanks. oz31p Report post Posted November 20, 2013 If it were me(and it will be) I'd go all spot and stalk. 19a lends its self well to this style. During this time of year you should have a very action filled day in the hills. But I would not expect much action at a water hole except the immediate fight with the owner of the water hole. mattys281 Report post Posted November 21, 2013 I keep thinking about headin up there for a winter hunt. I used to do a bit of bowhiking out in the hills north of coyote springs when I was a teenager but never even came close to getting the job done. Its great country. Good luck up there!
