4Falls Report post Posted November 20, 2013 Years ago I hunted that unit many times in December. Saw some really good bucks and always had fun. Don't know it its still the same. The most accesible areas do get alot of pressure.

ccran Report post Posted November 20, 2013 28 is a tough unit. Doesn't hold the populations it once had like back in the 80's and 90's. There are some decent bucks still hanging around, but it's not an easy hunt by any means.
Deerhunter98 Report post Posted November 20, 2013 I tagged out on the hunt that just ended in that unit
mc68 Report post Posted November 21, 2013 The unit has been in decline for years due to drought it seems. Used to be an amazing hunt, especially during the late archery hunt. Obviously there are still some pockets of deer here and there, but having lived in this area for 45 years I promise you it is nowhere even close to what it used to be. Sorry I dont have better news for you...

CUBAMEX Report post Posted November 21, 2013 I just hunted that area. Seen everything but bucks. Family member had a lion tag and downed one. 3 bucks were seen within our group.
Flatlander Report post Posted November 21, 2013 The biggest buck I have ever seen was on the big open hills down by Tanque during the late archery hunt. He was a straight typical that was over 190".
