My uncle caught this fish over the weekend, I guess this is one way to wait for deer season. What sucks is I turned them down and didn't go. They made sure to stop by my house and let me know what I missed out on. I figured some of you would enjoy this fish.

Wow!! keith that's a very very nice cat,how heavy is it? How deep it was where he caugth that beast? That's excactly what I do, when not hunting I go fishing,my biggest so far is a 19 lbs.chanel cat. Usually I get an average of four of five of them bettwen 10 to 15 lbs.

You got me all excited I want to go fishing now. Congrats to your uncle.I guess Keith we'll never catch the big one staying home so get your fishing gear and lets go fishing.

God bless you both.

That is his son in law holding the fish, they said it weighed 55lbs. the funny thing is in the years fishing with them they have caught a few that were bigger than that, and quite a few around that size. It's the first time I have gotten pictures though, thank god for digital cameras.

My biggest fish was a 23lbs channel cat at alamo lake.

good luck and God bless

What a fish! ;) Awesome pic! Reminds me of the old days.... My buddies & I used to spend several nights each summer sitting on the banks of the Salt river going after the big ones! We used to have some success on the Gila below Coolige dam as well (when San Carlos actually had water...).

I don't think we ever got one as big as 55lbs (some close...), but it was exciting knowing that they were lurking out there... We primarily used waterdogs & night crawlers then, but I know a lot of guys go after them with carp or bluegills these days.

I gotta get up there again sometime soon!

That is a beautiful flathead. I love to flathead fish too so far my biggest is 50lbs out of the salt. My favorite bait is carp, but when my carp tank is getting low I will use bluegill. This year I have caught three fish over 30lbs.

That thing is a TOAD! I didn't know they got that big in the Verde! I love to fish in the summer, my biggest is a 36 pounder out of the Salt, I am pretty sure that one could eat my 36 pounder whole ;) !!!! Too bad you didn't go with them..
