Southwest custom h1000lw

Recommended Posts

Does anyone have a southwest custom H1000lw or know about it or the company? The price seems a bit high and not sure about quality. I like the fact that they are local so I can go and put my hands on it before I spend any kind of money on it and close enough to deal with any issues or questions.

Would I be better of just buying a remington 700 and have the work done to it or would that cost even more. I'm looking to buy a Quality shooter in 7mm or 300 that will last, I don't mind spending some money on it because it will be the last large caliber I'm going to buy for a very long long time if not last one altogether. Any feedback, insight or info would be appreciated.

Thanks, Ken

I am no expert but have been looking into a 700 build lately and I would think for a similar amount of $ you could build your own and make it what you want. I am a little surprised that they are keeping the x Mark pro trigger, everything I have read has been negative. But if they can get it to a crisp 2.5 then I wouldn't see a problem. I would want to test that piece. The B&C stock is a drop in part that you could order yourself for under $400.

I just bought a Rem 700 SPS AAC and the xmark triggers SUCK!!!! People say you can not adjust down any poundage and they are right the I could screw the adjustment anyway I want and it does not move from 4 lbs which is way to much for me. I took mine off my 6.8 that has the old trigger and got it down to 2.13 lbs. I could go lower but it feels too good to go any lower. My advise is to change triggers first thing then get rid of the Houge stock if it comes with it and get an HS precision.

You can buy a timney for less than that and it's a drop in part. I say you just go buy an old 700 platform with the old trigger and do your own build. Stock $400, Krieger barrel $400, bed/free float $200, trigger work $0, lug and nut $75, bipod $75, muscle brake $250. For a $1,000 savings All you would be missing is the matched action.

I have bought and shot many find custom rifles, my recommendation is to buy a custom/semi custom rifle used, kinda like a used car, a custom rifle rapidly depreciates as soon as it leaves the gunsmith. If you want help finding one lemme know.
