MULEPACKHUNTER Report post Posted November 13, 2013 I didnt get drawn for my unit that I know well so I went for a southern leftover and here are some pics, short story is I went down solo backpacking and was hit by game and fish 2 times (thanks guys for what you do) hit by Border Patrol 3 times (thanks guys for what you do) spent many hours glassing and hiking over 4 days and saw 3 bears and zero deer. Beautiful country.

Scooter Report post Posted November 13, 2013 Very cool, what unit was that? Coues assassin, if he wanted to share that information I think he would have put it in his original post. It is not normally something people will readily share on the open forums... Great Pics!!! I can't believe you zeroed out on deer in that prime-looking country! dieselroe Report post Posted November 13, 2013 Very cool, what unit was that? There were only a few leftover tags. I was in 35a with one and didn't get a shot. Only saw one buck and he disappeared. This is most likely same unit. As you can see it was burned and there are a lot of bears in there because they don't really give out any bear tags. Sorry "MULEPACKHUNTER". Anyways, it seems to me these units have become more visited over the past 6 years.
ready2hunt Report post Posted November 13, 2013 Wow that sounds like it was fun. I always want to tag out but going out and seein that much wildlife is great. Nothing quite like backpacking into an area.
MULEPACKHUNTER Report post Posted November 13, 2013 I actually left out the unit on intensionally, I was originally thinking to title it with the unit but from now on I think I will keep that to myself when posting, it was not my normal unit and I think guys who go there regular would not want someone posting a bunch of specifics just because it was a back up or leftover plan. Its not too tuff to do your own leg work and alot of guys will PM info on areas anyway. Thanks so Coues guys who did so for me, I went with my own plan but their info was invaluable regardless. I can PM where not to go for sure. LOL on these days anyway. Tuff Ruff beat you up country in there for sure.
Scooter Report post Posted November 13, 2013 I wasn't trying to be overly rude about it... but it's sort of an accepted internet hunting/fishing forum practice to leave out some of the details and if you want to know specifics just PM the person and let them decide whether or not to give up the area. Again, great pics- and now that I've thoroughly embarassed myself as the "forum police" I shall retire.

MULEPACKHUNTER Report post Posted November 14, 2013 you were way out in the wilderness and got stopped by AZGFD? Not in the wilderness but at the trailheads, got stopped on the dirt roads too. Good guys and tried to hook me up with a better spot but being my first time down I couldnt find where they were saying
GotBowAz Report post Posted November 15, 2013 MULEPACKHUNTER, what is that in the picture with the bear on the left hand side. Is that an old piece of carpet? It almost looks like sheep hide maybe stretched over some dead branches? Sounds like you had some pretty cool experiences in the unit even if you didn't find any deer. Thanks for sharing the pictures. pretty cool and some neat country. GBA
