Right now I have it airing outside and sprayed with Fabreze. Open to any suggestions you may have! And no it's not my sleeping bag!

madx250 Report post Posted November 10, 2013 I wash mine once in a while in my normal washing machine. I have to use special soap made for a down bag (you can get it at sportsmans/rei) and dry it on low heat.
Guest akaspecials Report post Posted November 10, 2013 I wash mine in a front loader on gentle cycle, then air dry. I've washed them in top loading but it seems to destroy the loft, and then your 0 degree bag turns to a 20 degree bag...
rcdinaz Report post Posted November 11, 2013 If it is down by the down wash. Dryer with a couple of tennis balls and a few extra bath towels on low or hang dry it and then throw it in for a while. It brings back the loft.
Pine Donkey Report post Posted November 11, 2013 I lay it over the table in the back yard and spray with a hose. Next I spray with oxyclean and scrub with a brush, rinse with the hose and let dry in the sun turning occasionally. By laying it over a table rather than hanging it up, the liner does not bunch up. DUG Report post Posted November 11, 2013 Thanks for all the tips. I washed it in our front loader but it still is stinky. Hung up in the garage to dry. I'll see how it is after a few days. Just may have to burn it like Flatlander suggested…..lol

triton Report post Posted November 12, 2013 Take it to laundromat that has the huge washers It can be done for probably $10-$12. It'll take about an hour. Take your own detergent.
Scooter Report post Posted November 12, 2013 In the military we use a gentle cycle front loader or hand wash with sport wash or oxy clean then hang dry inside out... Trust me, if CIF will let you turn one in after a deployment using that cleaning method, it should work for you! Is it natural or synthetic down???
