Curtis Reed Report post Posted November 9, 2013 Hey guys - I have hunted the early bowhunt in 23N successfully in the past with an OTC tag, but I have not been out on the late hunt before. I am planning a Jan 2014 week trip up there, and was wondering if there is any difference as far as deer numbers up there? Do they move south due to food sources, or do they stay put all winter? Will early January be a post rut time for the deer up there?? I am planning on hunting out of a stand. Where I hunt, there are whitetail, but I will mostly be into Muleys Thanks
Flatlander Report post Posted November 9, 2013 January is the dead heat of the rut there. Deer get pretty dispersed just due to the rut. They move a lot and should be pretty visible but will be tough to pattern. Deer don't really migrate from there but if there is a lot of snow they might move out of the pines.
