Or..... you could buy an ECHO and after your truck is full help fill up everybody else's truck while they are constantly trying to keep their saws running.

If a guy asks about a 461 or 660 he most likely knows saws and echo isn't real high on the list for a reason....and this is coming from some one who owns a echo 670 and stihls and runs a husky sometimes...

Echo is a good saw but IMO can't compare to some of the others...

The 044 magnums/440 magnums are great saws too and not quite the weight of the big 660. We use them on the fire department here and I've cut some huge snags. We have the 660, but its a beast to handle.

Bruce,

The old man has an echo 4... model and runs well. Having the 660 side by side running together it out performs the echo handily. Echo is a good line and I don't knock them. The power the 660 has is where I would like to be but if a deal came up on something like the 461 I would be on it.

The 044, 048, 056, 066 etc would be up my alley too.... just need to find them. I don't think I need to go over these saws.

Thx for the input guys.

I knew the mountain folks would tear this up and thats fine, I used to get laughed at whenever I showed up with my ECHO but it starts every time, always, and after ten years has stacked up piles of mesquite in 100 degree heat, and ripped through your pulpwood at high altitude with no tinkering. The local small engine and saw shop has stacks of every manufacture out there, but not ECHO.

Echo is good but my Stihl saws have always started and ran great and you can beat the crap out of them. I had a 660 and that saw is for Paul Bunyan. It flat wore an old man out holding it up to cut side cuts.

Echo is a good reliable saw.... but when you compare apples to apples echoethos power to weight ratio is no match for a stihl or husquvarna when you are talking pro models. My father in law has a CS 670 and it is a decent running almost 70 cc class saw but heavy it does not compare to the torque my husky 372xp puts out and rpms. My 562xp even out runs it quite easily and quite a bit lighter. But if he is looking at a 460 or 660 echo has no answer for those two saws.

And to the gentelmen looking for the saws don't over look the husky 372xp or the 390xp in my mind running both of those and 460s and 660s the huskys spool up a tad bit faster and handle much better. Just my 2cents. If you are looking for power I have a old pioneer P60 100cc saw that runs very nice!!!!

Why such a big saw? You gonna move to Washington or something? 036 is still a great saw and can take down anything up to 30" DBH comfortably.

Hahaha!!! I don't think ole 25-06 has been to the mountains in 10 years!!!! Although that desert boy has an elk hunt coming up, we've been cutting mesquite and juniper with our stihls before with no problems, the ole man that we cut for had an echo and cut right there with us. I love both my stihl saws but can't say another brand ain't good too, just never owned another brand. 3rd generation stihl owner here.

Even soft wood that's pushing it for a 036 not that it cant do it but i wouldent want to push a 60cc saw that hard for too long ....... I would much rather have a 440 460 or 372 for that for the pound extra of saw you get wayyyy more power!!!!! There's no replacement for hp and torque. I would rather have a pinch too much saw then not enough.

it took me months to find a good deal on a used stihl. ebay was high as a kite, and CL was trashed. finally found an 310 on a facebook site. it is beastly. just cut several chords of oak/juniper. unbelievable.

i had an echo 370 before i bought the stihl. i was pleased with the echo, but the bar was chincy, and vibrated a lot, and was a little underpowered for big game.

Once you've ran a big saw compared to the lower end models there's no comparison as to what you can get done in a day. On the heavier side, correct, but there is a place for a high end high powered saw, mid range and lower end saws. Something 70+ CC is good to have and can do a lot in a days worth of work.

Anyways, I figured this would get a lot of opinions but still looking. Thx for the input.
