Az badger

Recommended Posts

I saw a badger about a month ago while quail hunting in souther az. I was walking along when I nearly stepped on him. Startled and not knowing what it was at first I drew my shotgun. I couldn't see him when I stepped back because of the tall grass, I decided to go around and get a better look well he took off as a I moved ran about 20 yards and stopped in a wash where we looked at each other for about 2-3 mins before I decided to leave him alone. I don't know if they are legal to take but I would love to have that mount its beautiful. He seemed big to me although it was the first one I have ever seen. My question would be are they legal to take besides trapping and if you saw one would you take it and have it mounted. Also is it legal to take all year around?

As far as I know you could have taken him.

Go back and find the little guy. I have found that if you sick you hand in their burrows you can coax them out. You should try it next time ;)

Hmm never tried that technique, maybe you should post a video on how to? Haha

But holster your shotgun first. (You'll need both hands).

Make sure you rub some raw bacon on your hands first. That's how the pros do it.

I think I saw a video where you play that dying rabbit sound, after the bacon rub down, while you put your hands in the hole. Get your head in there if you can so you can see what your grabbing.

I checked, YouTube took down the video, they do that with all the good ones. To replace it you should video tape your badger hunt. I am predicting at least 1M hits!

its similar to noodling but on dry land and with something that can kick your butt i mean something you can beat up. Its like wrestling with a small cat.

I remember when we saw our first badger a couple years ago. It was waddling as fast as it could down the road in front of us and would NOT leave the road. We had to figure out what it was because neither one of us had seen one before. Their coloring is beautiful!
