bowsniper Report post Posted November 3, 2013 Everyone knows that the prices are a little higher @ cabelas. In the past, they always price match on local competitors with local stock. I wanted a new shotgun, and the one that I settled on was $1250 @ sportsmans warehouse and $1400 @ cabelas. Pretty big difference, even for cabelas. I filled out all the paperwork and went to checkout, and big surprise! "We don't price match any more". Call the manager,ok. Manager: "Won't price match it. The best that I can do is $50 gift card". Well gee, i may be a little slow, but not a complete idiot! I went to sportsmans to get my new shotgun! I geuss that's its time to start shopping around instead of blindly wondering into cabelas. AZHUNTER05 Report post Posted November 3, 2013 I try my hardest not to buy anything from cabelas! The guys behind the gun counters are generally very arrogant and insulting ( if you are lucky enough for one to help you). I bought a rifle from them for my dad's Christmas present a few years ago, and they guy looked at me and asked if I knew how much it cost! I guess he felt I couldn't afford it or something?
brent Report post Posted November 3, 2013 I would never buy a gun from Cabelas… I would rather give my money to the little guys. What shotgun did you get???? Same here. We used to have a lot of great outdoor stores in phoenix. Online businesses, BPS, Cabelas, and Sportsmans (which I think is the lesser of the evils) pushed out some great local stores. The good new is that there ARE STILL SOME LEFT. Please support the small guys, they are happy to price match; just give them a chance to do it. Even if they don't have the one you want in stock, they can probably order it. Certainly there are exceptions, but AZHUNTER hit the nail on the head.

Snapshot Report post Posted November 3, 2013 I have never purchased a gun from Cabelas. I have made many online purchases over the years and was always satisfied with Cabelas delivery, product, and customer service. However, in this economy, with many small business's trying to survive (I have been there), I always try and spend my money with local small business, or sponsors of this site. If I get s snooty sales person, all I do is find someone else, or head for the door.

Often times, if the price isn't exactly the same it's just spittin' distance apart. It's more than worth it to be able to shake the hand of the person who's putting their personal reputation on the line for the sale. If the profit margins are a little thicker for a local small business (and especially a CWT.com sponsor), so be it. If I want them to be around, I have to support them.
Coach Report post Posted November 4, 2013 IMO, Cabela's today is nothing at all like the company it used to be. You used to get really good prices, cheap shipping, customer service that was second to none. Since they went public and started putting up stores everywhere I think their prices have gone through the roof, and their shipping is expensive because they don't even try to be efficient. Some of the last things I ever bought from Cabelas were small but shipped in a huge box stuffed with packing. Their customer service has also gone way down hill. For almost 20 years, close to 90% of my hunting and fishing purchases were from Cabela's. Now, the only things I'll buy there are things I can't get somewhere else. I love their boots (Perfekt hunter) but there are enough great products out there with the same quaility, better customer service, and as others have mentioned, buying from the smaller guys whenever possible helps keep the smaller shops with families to provide for afloat.
Willyhunts2 Report post Posted November 4, 2013 I've ordered a shot gun barrel from cabelas that has been on backorder for four months. Just bought a new pair of danners and the sole, inside left boot, is a few inches bigger than the right boot. Just about done with cabelas all together.
