turkeyneck Report post Posted October 28, 2013 After about 15 years with my trusty Mathews I upgraded to a BowTech Insanity. Now comes time to outfit the bow with sight, rest, and quiver. I've been out of the market so long I don't know what advances and quality products are out there. I don't need the best, just some items to last another 15 years. Any suggestions will be appreciated.
ready2hunt Report post Posted October 28, 2013 My only suggestion would be a whisker biscuit for a rest. Cheap, durable and accurate. Good luck.

rcdinaz Report post Posted October 28, 2013 I just went thorugh the same drill at the beggining of the year. Looked at a bunch of stuff and had a lot of input and a lot of opinions from long time hunters. I ended up with the following. CBE Tek-hybrid adjustable 3 pin site. I started with a simple tru-glo 3 pin that was free. Rest is really personal preference I have an HDX rest but I have to admit that the pros of a whisker biscuit make a lot of sense. Namely not having the arrow fall off once your adrenaline is pumping after you just spent and hour on a stalk. Quiver same deal look at a bunch and find one you like. I have an Octane, very light and it matched my all black bow.
Scooter Report post Posted October 28, 2013 I have the Alpine quiver, Whisker Biscuit and a Trophy Ridge Outlaw 5-pin on my bow. All economical and all functioning well.
turkeyneck Report post Posted October 28, 2013 Could some one explain Retina lock technology? Saw an IQ sight that didn't require a peep? I'm thinking like outfitting a rifle that one puts the best scope he can afford. Just had no idea the bow sights were so pricy and not sure which technology has been proven in the field? Looking at Octane and G5 quivers? Arrow rest have been looking at the QAD drop away? Shooting a whisker biscuit does one have to use a certain type of fletching? Scooter Report post Posted October 29, 2013 Retina lock is a floating dot that centers in the circle when you return to a previously established anchor point. It basically eliminates grip torque through forcing you to establish a consistent grip with your bow hand and also locks you in to super-consistent shooting form. I've heard that the IQ's are tough to initially set up, but the benefits are many once you get used to it.
acftfireman Report post Posted October 30, 2013 I have the Bowtech Insanity CPX. I shoot Ripcord SOS, Tight Spot Quiver, 7 pin Spot Hogg, Hogg It wrapped and a B Stinger Hunter Extreme Stabilizer. Paul
turkeyneck Report post Posted October 30, 2013 Narrowed it down to Tightspot or Octane quiver. Rest either a drop away such as QAD, not ripcord or whisker biscuit. Sight is the most cumbersome because one can not try the different features. I'd like to have an adjustment over 70 yards if needed and also need bright and large enough pins as my eyesight isn't what it was.

Get a sight with capability for a 2x lens.
elpepe25 Report post Posted October 31, 2013 Gonna disagree on the large pins long distance thing. Until recently FITA shooters shot 90m with a large dot on their lens or in the case or recurves a somewhat large pin in an aperture. A lot of field archery shooters still use a larger dot that is substantially larger than a .029 fiber optic pin and still find extreme accuracy @ 80 yards. Also I'd rather have .029 pins than a lense to get dusty and baby. As far as my experience with octane quivers is concerned- I had the magnetic 2 piece that was all the rage a couple of years ago. That thing was a flimsy piece of garbage and was too high profile. I had to run a substatial offset weight to balance the bow. I ended up replacing it with a Fuse 2 piece quiver that I am really happy with.
Scooter Report post Posted October 31, 2013 That's just wierd... but more power to them! I like being able to see a target behind a small .019 pin so I can be more precise. I guess it's all up to the user but I feel like if you have a thicker pin and a small bullseye at longer distances- that the pin will occlude the target somewhat and accuracy could suffer. I run .029's up to 45yds and my 50-60 pins are the .019's.
