elkhunter Report post Posted October 24, 2013 Just purchased a new scope on here, vortex viper long range 30mm tube with 50mm objective, largest objective lens I have own, what type of ring height should I be looking into for mounting this scope on a remington 700? I see different heights but my rifle gets back next week and can't measure right now
outdoor rush Report post Posted October 24, 2013 I just put the same scope on my girlfriends tikka and I went with the Tally one piece rings in medium height. Jake
elkhunter Report post Posted October 24, 2013 Would you assume the tikka has the same barrel height as remington?

outdoor rush Report post Posted October 24, 2013 Yeah as long as it is the factory contour barrel. On my remington 700 I put a warne one pc base with warne low rings, but my scope is a 44mm objective. Jake

123456 Report post Posted October 24, 2013 I am able to get a zeiss conquest with a 50mm objective to sit on my weatherby with low rings. I would just wait until the gun gets here and then purchase rings then.
AxisWorks LLC Report post Posted October 24, 2013 />Would you assume the tikka has the same barrel height as remington? Tikka has a completely different action than a Rem. 700 I wouldn't assume anything off this info. I know for a fact that the Tally 1 piece 30mm lite bases in medium height will work for a 700 up to and including a Sendero contour barrel with a vortex 30mm tube with 50mm objective. However if your planning on using this this rifle for long range and plan on dialing for trajectory you will be robbing yourself out of up to 1/2 your adjustment range by not using a pitched rail. Depending on cartridge and velocity a simple Balistics calculation will let you know if and how much you will need to reach a certain distance.
goatsie Report post Posted October 24, 2013 Are you gonna put on a 20moa rail? That will affect your choice as well.
elkhunter Report post Posted October 24, 2013 No will not put on a 20 moa rail, never had to shoot far for coues deer! My longest shot on a coues buck was 333 yds. I will wait til both items arrive and get accurate measurements to determine ring height, thank you
willhunt4coues Report post Posted October 24, 2013 It should be low rings. I have extra low on mine but I also have a 35mm scope.
elkhunter Report post Posted October 24, 2013 Willhunt4food, the scope has a 50 mm objective lense, the tube itself is 30 mm
STOMP442 Report post Posted October 24, 2013 Get the Burris signature zee rings. They come with 10 moa inserts just in case you need to add a little and they are the best rings made.
willhunt4coues Report post Posted October 24, 2013 Mine has a 56 objective so technically speaking it should be low rings on yours. I would wait till you got yours to make sure though. BUT you could always take them back. Nightforce or Valdada is what it have both of and they both work flawlessly. Valdada is the most affordable with I think the best tight fitting without having to lap.
PRDATR Report post Posted October 25, 2013 Get the Burris signature zee rings. They come with 10 moa inserts just in case you need to add a little and they are the best rings made. I just put a pair of these on a rifle a few days ago. I usually always get two piece Leupold bases and rings but this rifle I am putting together for my BIL has Weaver Bases so I went with the Burris rings.
