Spooner Report post Posted October 30, 2006 Call it wishful and hopeful thinking for my own WT hunt coming up in Dec., but my Son and I are in need of a new Taxidermist. We were orginally using Frank at Heads of Arizona and having very good success with mounts and pricing. He gave Juniors a 20% discount. Anyway, I believe he had started to have some health issues last year and was slowing his business then. Now, the phone has been disconnected. Anyone have any reliable and affordable Taxidermist to recommend? Hope a lot of you out there are having success and the need for services too!

Hightracker Report post Posted November 1, 2006 Mike Vacaro from A Head of the Game Taxidermy,bus.#623-572-5067.He is out in Peoria, dang good taxidermist. You're sure right coues 4x4. Mike is good at what he does. I've taken a trophy bull elk and a trophy antelope to him. Every time I stare at my mounts, I start reaching for my bow, because I thought they were still alive. vegasjeep Report post Posted November 1, 2006 Lippert/Doyle in Tucson is by far the best Coues Taxidermist there is. Ive seen mounts that regular taxidermist have done and have never done a Coues. They seem non lifelike.

Rembrant Report post Posted November 1, 2006 Mogollon Taxidermy in Payson. Not the best work for the price, but the best work AND the best price. This guy knows Coues Deer. Killed the #9 non-typical. Mike

ronaldo Report post Posted November 2, 2006 Richard Owens at Hunters Lair Taxidermy in Show Low. He is by far the best in the area and more than fair on pricing. My house is full of mounts from him and he does everything from fish to birds to elk to lions and bears. He does great work...I have pics if you want to see them.. monstercoues Report post Posted November 2, 2006 Well I guess it depends on price and quality, u pay for what you get, just like anything else. Well I have been to alot of taxidermy shops all over AZ. I personally use Clay from Mogollon Taxidermy in Payson. But if you are in Tucson, Chris Harlow, Chuck Meachum, and Dean Lippert are some of the best around when it comes to coues deer. As far as price, Clay is cheaper than the rest, and does a heck of a job. Call it wishful and hopeful thinking for my own WT hunt coming up in Dec., but my Son and I are in need of a new Taxidermist. monstercoues Report post Posted November 2, 2006 Well I hate to put a sour taste in your mouth, but thats what I get whenever I hear the name Hunters Lair Taxidermy. I shot my first AZ antelope in 2001 and I took it to Richard. I have never been more upset and disappointed in a mount than when I saw mine. First of all I wanted a wall pedastal and what I got was just a regular shoulder mount. Second of all there is stitching marks up the bottom of the neck. 3rd of all I have never seen a male antelope without black cheek patches and mine had them, but for some odd reason my mount doesn't have them.HMMM I looked at my video and the white markings on my antelope are different on the neck than my mount. That #$@$% used someone elses cape. I will never go there again and I should have just left the darn thing there, but I am too nice, I just took it and didn't say a word. Oh well he just lost alot of business. Richard Owens at Hunters Lair Taxidermy in Show Low. He is by far the best in the area and more than fair on pricing.
