ready2hunt Report post Posted October 18, 2013 Hey guys, I figured I would throw out this one out there in case anyone was looking into cold weather gear. Last year I had an elk tag and a few of the nights were some of the coldest I had hunted in. (and no I didn't tag out) That experience was enough to push me to buy a GOOD cold weather jacket. After lengthy research I purchased the ONYX ARCTIC SHIELD PARKA last year. It is hands down, the best jacket I have ever worn. Water proof, wind proof and even TOO warm at times! I have yet to wear anything more than a t-shirt under it and have been sitting for hours in freezing weather. I even have my little one sit in it for a couple of hours while I helped a friend field dress and elk last year. It cost me $150 at bass pro and is a terrific buy (it was my birthday present to myself). Good luck to everyone with the late elk and deer hunts....I am just a tag-along this year! I am sure there are other great jackets this is just my personal experience.
