couesmagnet Report post Posted October 17, 2013 I bought a caldwel lead sled dft last night . How much weight do you need to put on the bottom tray for the sled to be used properly. I have 2 seven pound sand bags and 2 10 pound weights for a total 34 pounds. Is this enough weight? rossislider Report post Posted October 17, 2013 I use a lead sled and I believe the amount of weight you use really only impacts the amount of felt recoil you want to reduce and really doesn't have anything to do with accuracy. I've shot my 300 RUM with no weight and also with 25 lbs. No difference in shot placement, the only difference is how much recoil I felt. So, for a smaller caliber you might not need nearly as much weight as you would for a larger caliber. 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
