syd34 Report post Posted October 12, 2013 My 12-year old Noah took his first buck this weekend. Noah shot his buck opening morning in unit 33. We were up long before sunrise and hiked to our glassing spot in the dark. As the sun came up we saw plenty of deer including a large three point that we tried to stalk. After many miles and no opportunities, we found this young spike on the side of a hill at three hundred yards. Noah had been practicing all summer with his rifle and is rock solid to 450 yds, so this was an easy decision for him. He took the shot at 300 yds and the deer went down in his tracks. Noah was shooting his Remington 700 youth chambered in 7mm-08 with his hand loaded 140 grain Sierra Game King bullets.
