black bear hunt in unit 22?

hey all,

 

i wanted to see if anyone would be able to help me figure out if unit 22 is good for bear hunting? if so where is a good area to go? this is my first hunt. i dont want someone to give out there hunny hole or anything but maybe a good area (rough location)

ummmm not sure if i know what you mean ready2hunt? are you saying that unit you have to have a horse in order to hunt there??

The matazels are a wilderness area....no vehicular access. So you either need a buddy to help or a horse. However if it is closed then I guess it doesn't matter either way. Good luck to you.

Foot attack bear is dead, speecial forces hunter pool took him out. I hunted 22north for bear but only saw a hiker and a white tail.

what part of 22 north were you in? i was looking just northwest of payson and southwest of pine? but like i said this is my first hunt and if i get something then great and if not then i am good too. just will chalk it up to try a different area. i know that 3a & 3b are good (from what i hear) but that is a heck of a drive from surprise.

I was in the same area Northwest of Payson on some pears but no bears, dont doubt there in there but didnt see any. Had about a 100 in white tail walk 30 yards from us on the mules in there.
