Here are a few pictures from my first ever duck hunt this weekend. My first duck was a double on a pair of blue-winged teals, and I got a nice bunch of rudy ducks this morning.

Wow that is great my first ducks were a pair of teal as well.

Way better than my first year of duck hunting!

What part of the state do you hunt.

I hunt the Colorado river near Yuma.

Congratulations on a great start! Not easy to take down those the F14's, especially 2 of them!

Were those both hens or was it a pair?

bhick what did you use to retrieve? I was thinking about heading up next week when I have a break from school. I've never been duck hunting either and figured you are probably a good person to ask since you too just started.

I was able to use my waders to get out to them, they weren't in very deep water. I also had a fishing pole with a big topwater rigged up to snag ducks that were father out.

That's a drake and a hen. The one on the right has a much brighter speculum on his wing then the one on the left. Plumage changes, but speculums will stay the same.

I'm not questioning you, but do you think that applies when one could be a cinnamon and one could be a BW?
