Beam scale vs digital

Recommended Posts

I currently have a digital scale made by hornady and the other day I measured 25 loads out at 43.5 gr. and when I finished I measured from the first one back the first 10 weighed 44.0gr then went to 43.9 , 43.8 ,ect back to 43.5gr are beam scale more reliable and repeatable?

/>I think beam scales are more accurate if your in a no air movement enviorment. I use a rcbs digital but usually check it every so often with a beam scale.

+ 1 keep the ceiling fan or fans off

Digital ones are ok for my non-accurate loads. I personally use the rcbs charge master and it does a great job on accuracy. I use a rcbs ohaus 305 balance scale (the best IMO) for my long range shooting, but they are hard to come by.

I lucked out and found a high dollar digital scale on eBay for $35. I have a set of check weights and the scale is dead on every time. I guess the seller did not know what he had and let it go for a fraction of what it was worth.

I only went to digital after I had the money to get a quality scale. Don't waste your money until then.
