Any Preppers out there?

It's hard to find the starting point for this topic - I guess since I was a kid growing up in the cold war era, being taught by our government that in the case of imminent thermo-nuclear war between Russian and the United States, that I should hide under my desk with my head between my knees when hydrogen bombs start igniting, hitting all major military facilities from well known air force bases to wheat fields known to hide missiles in the grain silos of the Midwest.

As I got older, I was fortunate to get a decent education and fly across the country for business, weekly. And on every flight, I was informed that in a case of emergency, I was to once again duck under the chair in front of me with my head between my knees.

 

Just weeks ago, the long-dormant cold war era feelings came back as our Commander In Chief, President Obama almost started the third wold war due to his arrogance and incompetency with the situation in Syria.

 

Now, we are yet the unwitting subjects in the constant struggle of the elitists who rule not just our country but all of "civilized humanity". The "Affordable Health Care Act", also known as Obamacare is the new probervial line in the sand.

 

They control the media, through ownership, they control public schools because all non-private schools are under the watchful eye the federal Department of Education. They own the monetary system, deciding day-to-day whether your dollars still have value, the currency rates, the value of hard currency like silver and gold. They own the forests under the Department of Agriculture, and can tell us under what circumstances, and under what fees we can access our land.

 

Now they own our doctors, our hospitals, our insurers, our entire health care industry - but gave themselves the ability to "opt out" of what is good enough for us, but not good enough for them.

I'm not an old guy or a young guy, just somewhere in the middle with enough foresight to see that our country is at a major crossroads. We clearly can't keep raising the debt ceiling - we don't have the intellectual capital to compete on a global scale, and living off the fruits of the generation before us has limits - limits we are currently over-extending.

 

We are a bus heading off the cliff, and instead of hitting the brakes, we're gunning it to full throttle. I don't want to be "Thelma and Louis" crashing into the ground.

Guys and gals, with love, start stocking up now - start with the essentials, BBB, Beans bullets and band-aids - excuse the cliché. You HAVE to have water, you then need food, and you have to have the means to protect those things vital to your family.

 

Maybe I'm full of crap, and just another tinfoil hat conspririst. But think about this - 18 months ago, anyone could buy bricks of .22 ammo for around $20. I've seen bricks go for over $160 locally. M855 green tip, 7.62 x 39 mm prices are at all-time highs. Food storage goods at walmart are selling out as fast as they get can get stocked.

 

 

You guys are all hunters, so I'll end this rant with one closing thought. Every time I get close to an animal I'm hunting, I avoid looking at its eyes, because I believe the can actually "sense" the predator closing in on them. I feel like the prey in this case because I can sense the predator closing in.

Your last part made me think of an various articles I've read that all say when things are gonna get bad, they will deny it the most and say more and more that there is nothing to worry about. Kinda creepy.

My prepping consist of Trying like heck to move out of here. Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rico, Panama, Grenada, etc. Wish that I had started years ago when prices were dirt cheap. With thousands of Americans fleeing to these places every year the prices are rising fast.

No worries on the tinfoil hat. I wear mine daily. I believe in Government conspiracy, as well as the shadow government that creates, and controls it. There are things going on behind the scenes that most people don't understand, or refuse to believe.

 

The average American is not brave enough, has the money, or will not take the steps necessary, to put the government and elitists, into to their place. Give them a good whoopin so to speak. There are ways to do it, but I cannot discuss that here.

 

Big Brother has become too powerful, and corrupt. The solution is like an electrical appliance. Pull the power cord out of the socket, and it quits working. Take away the power......problem solved.

 

The government gets away with what it does, because we do nothing. The left has become more bold, and Obama is as far left as anyone we have ever seen.

You bring up many good points and I have pondered this alot. I keep my eye on my spiritual leaders and try not to get too wound up but it is really hard. As I watch the foundation of this country crumble under the corrupt leadership that we have put into office.

Stock piling and saving for a rainy day has always been a part of our way of life, I never feel like I have enough but still it is a part of our "personal plan".

 

I have attached a link to a video, some of you may have seen it. It makes me cringe to think we have strapped our children with our stupidity.

Never thought I would ever see the greatest country in the world having its people have so much distrust, and fear of it's gooberment. And yes I did say fear. Being prepared is not only a good idea, but I feel is highly recommended. We really need to drain the swamp as the loser Nancy Palosi once said when her lips were moving, (LYING AGAIN). As I fear if we can't get an entire country motivated at the voting booths. WE are in deep trouble. Call it tin foil or what ever you'd like. But I would just ask this. How has passively disagreeing and some not participating been working for us? These morons work for us!! And when we are dealing with elitist arrogant individuals that stick their nose where it doesn't belong privately, and constitutionally. Something has to give. There will be a flash point. I'm just wondering how it will play out. Sad, how did we let them get so out of control, and arrogant??

So guy A lives within his means and saves for the future. Guy B racks up credit card debt and mooches off of the people who work. The government prints an obscene amount of money making the savings of guy A worth nothing and the debt of guy B worth nothing. Now the guy who worked hard and was responsible for his entire life has more fire starter and butt wipe to show for his efforts. They both start from scratch in a world filled with anarchy. I think it is happening, and the scary thing is it seems like it is by design. I think the people who voted for change are going to get to see what it really looks like in their lifetime. Just thinking about it makes my blood boil. How many people out there think the rest of the world will come to our aid when everything falls apart? I won't be holding my breath. Sorry for being negative. I would like to say I feel better, but I don't.

I am not going to go into a Biblical rant but I think many of us know where we are headed. I am ready. I was born to a farming family and have lived in the country all of my life. You prepare for the bad times because you know they are coming. Not to is just bad judgement or a head in the sand mentality. Gold and silver coin is frowned upon by most financial advisors but it will be worth something when paper is not. Freeze dried food will last for many years and bottled water is cheap. Other things to stay ready, gasoline, gear to live in the outdoors if needed, guns and ammo. Lee loaders work great for emergency reloading because you can sit in the floor and load ammo without a press.

 

I think most of us that hunt and fish are more or less prepared if for no other reason but because of our love for the outdoors.

 

I believe that time grows short. This world or society cannot continue on the course it is on without a major blowout.

Wow! Didn't expect to hear that on here. Do you also expect others to support you in everyday life?? ( The haves should support the have nots? ) Hopefully this was just misunderstood on my part. But seems like one of the same to me.
