Seldom Drawn Report post Posted October 2, 2013 We hunted 5bn as well hunted the whole season and scouted 2 weeks before the season every day. The biggest bulls we seen were 360ish and 370ish. The 360ish bull was pretty cool with 30 inch 3rds going almost to the tops of his fourths. But his back end was a little week nice bull though. Talk to one other pearson that was chasing a 375 7x8 bull for sevarl days but never conected. Elkslare, I hunted that 7x8 most of the hunt and missed him at 28 yards, sad to say. Azhunter05,Not the same bull you saw that I was hunting,he was never near anyones camp. out2hunt Report post Posted October 2, 2013 Speaking from a rookie's view, my 281 inch 6x6 looked enormous to me. At 60 yards it was almost impossible to let him walk..........elk fever had set in already lol. Next tag, I'm letting my buddies hold my arrows
coues clips Report post Posted October 2, 2013 My OPINION is like the definition of trophy. It is in the eye of the beholder. As we know B&C system sometimes doesn't account for uniqueness or character or mass in areas not part of scoring system. No doubt any bull 350 or better are awesome! My hopes and prayers is for a bull well over the 400" inch mark. I am a meat hunter and take the first good shot I'm offered so... it will take God's grace to make my dream come true. Meanwhile I am thankful for each opportunity to be in creation taking ALL of it in. This state is the Best! Don't tell anyone. LOL Score doesn't always tell the story for me. Mass only counts in the main beam for score. A 330 type bull with heavy mass throughout his entire rack is a nice looking animal. I have a 353 bull with a 29 inch spread and great tine length, but for me I love the mass and have seen lower scoring, heavy tined bulls that I like better. +1 on both these posts. I've seen bulls that don't look as big as they score also have seen bulls that look bigger then they score. I try not to get caught up in score now days. If the bull makes my heart skip a beat then he's big in my book.

If the bull makes my heart skip a beat then he's big in my book. I couldn't agree more! Score can give you an idea of the animal but it can be very deceiving. I think the biggest problem with the way most animals are scored is that they are scored on inside spread. To me this makes no sense to have any kind of spread measurement because it in no way represents the amount of bone on the animal's head. For example a bull that scores 330 with an inside spread of 30 actually has more bone on it head than a 340 bull with a 50 inch spread. To me numbers mean nothing and its all about "the look". -Tracy
idgaf Report post Posted October 3, 2013 Personally, for me a giant is bull I know I want to shoot in less than a second. A big bull is bull I want to shoot after 5 seconds of evaluation.
Shedhunteraz Report post Posted October 3, 2013 Any bull I have down on the ground at the end of the day, that my wife and I worked our tails off scouting for months and didn't have to pay someone to "show" me where he was at. WAY too many people get caught up the biggest bull in the state and 400 inch bulls. At the end of the day if your not happy taking any animal the good lord has allowed you to take and not be overjoyed you really need to find another hobby.

Well said and that is why the term the trophy is in the eye of the beholder came about. In my eyes, my bull is a TROPHY and is going on my wall. I will love seeing him each and every day. The real trophy is the memories locked inside of me of an outstanding time in the field with my good friends. The experience was priceless Shedhunteraz, priceless!
m77 Report post Posted October 3, 2013 Shedhunteraz and out2hunt are guys that I believe this website was originally started with. Back in the day we all talked about the enjoyment of the hunt as they have in the above posts. The harvest of the game is suppose to be for the meat it provides your family. Our own Game & Fish and many many hunters apparently have never been taught that. The wall mount is a remembrance of the experience.
