Willyhunts2 Report post Posted September 29, 2013 Just wondering how everyone does it. I know you can score each antler but what about the spread measurements? Most people just take an average spread type thing? I ask because I found a pair in 1 on my turkey hunt, biggest I've found and I'm guessing 380-390 but not sure what to do as far as spread goes. 123456 Report post Posted September 29, 2013 Typical spread to be used on Elk is around 40". That is how me and my buddies do it. I just killed a bull that had a 29" spread that scored 300". On the same hunt, my hunting partner killed a 6x6 that had a spread of 44" that might score 260". Then there is that 7E bull on here that has 57" spread, but that guy is a FREAK of nature. Seldom Drawn Report post Posted October 1, 2013 35 " spread most of the time 40 is just to much,on a 380 bull i would use 40 inches, lets see a pic of your 380 set. Seldom Drawn
Willyhunts2 Report post Posted October 1, 2013 I will take some better pics and add them after I get a number. They are a few years old so chalky were the sun hit and black/ brown on the bottom. I sent the pic to my friends during my turkey and everyone thought I was crazy cause the pics don't do it justice. Then They saw them when I got back and I wasn't as crazy as they thought ha. Kaffer62 Report post Posted October 1, 2013 Iwould say use 35. 40 on a big bull. A bull i shot was 56 inches wide but he was a toad. (i would just like to say, I shot him legally during a hunt. During daylight hours.)
