mklong40 Report post Posted September 29, 2013 Anyone have actual experience they can share with taking animals with this bullet? I'm particular to my partitions but the BC on these VLDs are hard to ignore. I've heard they are devastating on the meat and I am big on trying to salvage the meat. I know they group, I want to know about the hole it leaves; good or bad. Thanks.
STOMP442 Report post Posted September 29, 2013 In my experience they are no more damaging than any other bullet. In fact maybe less so as they fragment and destroy the internals rather than poke through and ruin meat on both sides. But these coues deer are small critters and you will probably get an exit regardless of bullet choice especially if shot from a magnum.
briant_az Report post Posted September 30, 2013 I've shot 2 wt with them out of a 280 rem. I personally love them. The exit on the one deer was about the size of a soft ball but that was at 100 yards. The deer I shot 2 years ago I don't even remember what the exit looked like but it was a much farther shot. I don't even remember if there was an exit.
grunt Report post Posted October 1, 2013 Ive shot 2 coues w bergers out of 300 rum. One base of neck shot from 500yds and no exit(185 vld). One quartering shot from behind ribs into vitals also no exit from 600yds(210 vld). No energy waisted! Animal absorbed all. Both dropped instantly. I know this isnt the 168 bullet but maybe it will help?
