tjhunt2 Report post Posted September 27, 2013 That must be some sort of dark colored sea salt block since other types of licks and "mineral" supplements are no longer allowed... Just trying to look out for you. Sneaker! your post got me curious about the mineral block not being allowed anymore. Not wanting to do anything illegal so I called the Mesa office today and I was told only ranchers were allowed to use salt and hunters were not allowed to use any salt of any kind. Then I called the Phoenix office and they told me I could use the regular white or the mineral brown salt blocks. Phoenix office then called me back a few minutes later and said no salt was allowed by hunters since July 1st. I asked where she got her information from since I talked with her last and she said she called the Mesa office who I had talked to earlier. Wouldn't you think all the regional offices would have been brought up to speed on the new chance. I'm not smart enough to post the new rule but it's on page 124-125. R12-4-303 subsection 4 and subsection 6. Maybe Tony could find out for sure with his knowledge and contacts. Thanks Sneaker for bringing it to my attention. Elkhunter1 Report post Posted September 27, 2013 What I understand is that we can only use pure salt and that ranchers can use whatever they deem necessary to the health of their heard. Who is to say the block has to be white?
rancilio Report post Posted September 27, 2013 Page 125, R12-4-303, A.4-6 It says ...do not include... Salt etc. Doesn't that mean salt is ok?
Sneaker Report post Posted September 27, 2013 Yeah, we all exhausted this topic pretty thoroughly a few months back when it was being passed and clarified. I am shocked the offices don't know what their own policy is. Anyhow, the way the final version reads and with the explanations that we have received, I feel confident personally putting salt out as it is specifically and explicitly excluded from the subsection in question.
