azhuntnut Report post Posted September 22, 2013 I am going to load some of the 95 Nosler balistic silvertip with the Lubalox coating. I have shot them out of my .308 and they do great. Another one I was considering was the Barnes 85 grain TSX bt. Cabelas had both in stock when I was there on Friday, plus they also had some Hornady 95 sst. roninflag Report post Posted September 23, 2013 i have shot quite a few deer with the .243. for coues most folks would reccomend any of the ones from 85 grains and up. , also the one that shoots best in your rifle. We have the Berger hunting 105 VLD's on the shelf Nosler BT's in 90 and 95 grn in stock Hornady's too - in a few different weights If you're an out-of town guy (we're in Mesa) - we'll ship 'em to your door. mklong40 Report post Posted September 23, 2013 Ive shot several deer with ballistic tips, including one with a .243. I would highly reccomend (I know we all have our own opinions) not using a BT out of a .243 for deer. The expansion on those BT are insane. It's fun to watch on a coyote but on a deer the penetration sucks. I tried a partition not only in my .243 but also my normal deer rifle (7mag) and the results were night and day compared to a BT. With a .243 you are wanting penetration, not expansion. Those BT littereally blow up on a deer and there may not be anything left to go through vitals. A 90-100gr partition will be the closest in performance to an accubond. I find supply is better too. Just my experience..... Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
MRL1984 Report post Posted September 23, 2013 Everyone keeps going for the partitions, but I am not a fan.They shoot great shotgun patterns, at least the ones I loaded. So I may be to blame. That was 150s in 308 as well. The accubonds and nbt shoot awesome in the same weight. That said the federal premium nosler partitions shot great in my 7Mag. They had a tendency to stick and rip the bullet out on un-chambering, leaving the bullet in the chamber and spilling powder everywhere. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
