Jimmyc Report post Posted September 21, 2013 Dear Friend,I will be joining with thousands of people nationwide to walk in AFSP's Tucson Out of the Darkness Walk to benefit the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. I would appreciate any support that you give me for this worthwhile cause. I lost my brother in law to suicide, he was only 17. Recently my dear friend lost his 15 year old son to suicide. This has to end, and I am here to ask for your help, together we can bring awareness and preventative tools to our communities and schools. The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention is at the forefront of research, education and prevention initiatives designed to reduce loss of life from suicide. With more than 36,000 lives lost each year in the U.S. and over one million worldwide, the importance of AFSP's mission has never been greater, nor our work more urgent.I hope you will consider supporting my participation in this event. Any contribution will help the work of AFSP, and all donations are 100% tax deductible.Donating online is safe and easy! naturegirl Report post Posted September 21, 2013 You have my support. I lost my 18 year old brother to suicide. It's one of those things that unless it touches you personally, people tend to look the other way, but through efforts like yours lives can be saved. CouesWhitetail Report post Posted September 22, 2013 We lost one of our longtime forum members to suicide a few years ago. It still haunts me to this day. And our military members are suffering greatly with high suicide rates. This is a great cause to help and I encourage everyone to donate whatever they can or help with the walk. Snapshot Report post Posted September 22, 2013 My good friends sister from High School committed suicide, a woman I had known for almost 30 years. The maintenance man, who replaced me at the guest ranch in Montana, because I could not make it back up, was a wounded warrior, and he committed suicide over a breakup with a woman, in the middle of the season. They called me in the middle of the season, to ask if I could take over, but I had to decline. Can I walk with you guys/gals, if I show up for the event? mklong40 Report post Posted September 22, 2013 Joel might as well have been my own blood when he took his life. He was my little bro too. I cant believe its been 13 years now. Just this weekend my wife attended a funeral for her cousin who took his own life last week. He left behind a wife and 2 daughters. I think its awesome for Jimmy to be getting others involved and to raise the awareness. Good job Jimmy. See you soon.
