olmos1010 Report post Posted September 21, 2013 I've got an old marlin 22 Mag bolt action that I'm trying to get ready for my 11 year old daughters to learn with but I don't know the first thing about maintaining and up keep of guns. This gun hasn't been cleaned in god knows how long so all and any advice would be greatly appreciated. How to clean, how often and so on. I just want to show them the right way. Thanks in advance. deercrazy Report post Posted September 21, 2013 I would start by going to the Marlin website, and see if you can download the owners manual. That would be the best source for proper disassembly and cleaning. Take your time, and get quality cleaning gear. Being in Mesa, I would go to Bass Pro Shop, or a local gun shop and get their advise about cleaning gear. Take your daughter with you so she can learn how going to the experts will save time and money. Good luck, and please post some pictures on her day a the range. olmos1010 Report post Posted September 21, 2013 That's a good idea, I didn't even think of that. I already got a scope for it, a nice strap, the strap mounts that screw in gun but I don't know how to install them either. Any gunsmith here in mesa would be a big help. Thanks for the advice.
