COUESAZ Report post Posted October 20, 2006 Who has one and what do you like about them. I am wanting one because i think it will fit my family and the yamaha and arctic cat will not. I want to be able to have three per seat. Now my kids are small and will not be with me at all times, But when i do take them on some short rides in the mountains i want to be able to load them all on and go. They are 8, 6,3,and 4 months, and then my wife and I.

BASS Report post Posted October 29, 2006 You know that I like the Rhino a lot. It sounds like the Ranger is just what you are looking for, but just remember that it is a bit wider and that may become a problem later on. Although you are going to be able to out run stock Rhinos with that beast, and crawl over anything as long as you have traction on atleast two wheels you also sit up higher so be cautious over really rough stuff. My friends uncle has two of the Rangers, and we have rolled them a couple times by doing stuff that maybe should have been passed on, or have looked for another way around it. The center of gravity on the Rangers sits kind of high in my opinion so care needs to be taken. I mean you can still take a turn on a dirt road full bore and be fine, but on the really rough "rock crawling" stuff care needs to be taken. Over all it sounds like the Ranger would fit you guys perfect! I'd call Four Seasons Motorsports in Rye and ask for a price. They were about two to three thousand less than the other shops in the valley on the rhinos.
Flash Report post Posted October 29, 2006 I've ridden in a Ranger several times. You can fit three adults in the front seat fairly comfortablly. They are amazingly smooth riding and worth the purchase! Drawback, both of the ones I've ridden in needed major repair in the first 12 hours of use.

Diamondbackaz Report post Posted November 1, 2006 Can't say much about the newer polaris's, but the older polaris quads were the biggest junk on the trail.
AzBuckCHaser1 Report post Posted November 1, 2006 my buddy has had his for a year he loves it has about 100hrs on it and it runs like a champ never has had to do nothing but regular oil changes they seem top heavy but it takes a lot to make it feel tippsy
COUESAZ Report post Posted November 1, 2006 I have had many polaris quads and they have all worked great. They are a bit cold blooded but they run great. The two strokes are the only one i would never get again.
Diamondbackaz Report post Posted November 1, 2006 Yes, the first ones were two strokes with no engine braking, the 4X4's had 3 drive chians. They were basically a snow mobile with wheels added. I always ended up buying Hondas or Yamys since they were much more refined units.
azhuntnut Report post Posted November 1, 2006 I have a 2000 model sportsman 500 with almost 3k on it. It has been one of the best purchases I have made. This sucker will go about anywhere and never leaves me stranded. It will even carry entire elk accept one hind quarter. I wanted to get a ranger, but I couldn't get past the cost. TAM Report post Posted November 1, 2006 I've got a 2002 Sportsman 500 which has been real good to me. I've never had any trouble with it except for torn boots on the CV joints. I agree that they do seem to be cold blooded. In the winter I just let it warm up for about 5-10 minutes before I leave.

You want the three seater for your kids and stick with 4-seasons motorsports
Diamondbackaz Report post Posted November 2, 2006 I bet if you got one with the EFI, that would eliminate the cold blooded issue.
hunter07 Report post Posted November 2, 2006 I have a 2004 , 400 and 500 sportsman. you can tell the power differance betwwen them but they both preform fairly well. the only problem i have is that when i get up in higher elevations they tend to miss or sputter. this is a jet problem i think. the dealer says so any way. higher up the thinner the air,
