I didn't what weight made a black bear big, I know they are scored by the skull but he said the game warden up there estimated his weight around 400 lbs

Looks huge to me! Usually in AZ the hunters sit a few feet behind the bear so they can make it look bigger. He's right on top. I killed a bear and took pics on top of it. Looked pretty much like that and it was 400 pounds, it had a smaller skull then this I think. Maybe I can find the pic.

Here it is. I'm right on his back pulling on the neck scruff to get his head up for a pic. You can see my knee on the left. This was in Canada. A 400 pound black bear is a good goal. Sorry about the pic, this was from a wind-up camera.

Ya that bear was ripe for the winter! I am not a good feild judge but no doubt that bear is fat. Who knows what the skull would measure in at.

Looks really big to me. I wouldn't begin to know how to estimate weight, but looking at the size of the head, I'd say "That's a biggun".

That was my estimate before reading this 375 to 425. Nice bear.

I talked to him this evening and asked if the bear was cinammony, he said he's a chocolatey cinammony color and measures 6'6" nose to tail. Can't wait to hear the skull measurement
