Anyone else have a Burris E3?

Recommended Posts

I was just curious on some opinions on the scope and if anyone here has or had any experience with one?

I have had mine about 6 months now and I am really liking it. I got a discount coupon from Burris sent to me which was good for 60% off any optic for a military discount. I think it ended up being just under $1k. I put it on my Savage 300 Win mag and worked up a good load of 79.5 gr H1000 with 185gr Berger Classic hunters. I am confident out to 800 right now on deer sized game only because I don't have a ton of shooting time in yet. I am confident that I can get a lot closer then that and will get as close as possible before taking any shots on game.

I just think it is just fun to go out and give it a go on various targets. I have let a few of my buddies try it out and they were impressed with the whole package. I have had a few people that aren't really fans of the scope and say what's the point and so on. I really don't see much difference between this and having to range and dial yardage besides it takes longer to fumble around with that. You still need to know how to shoot and read the wind. With the load I am currently shooting I can get out to about 1150 yds and then the scope is out of calculated holdover. Overall the glass and function of the scope is far better then I was expecting.

Here is a pic of my set up now. I got some flak on another sight for having a break on it and using a lead sled. I only use the lead sled because it's the only rest I have right now.

I'm like you. I know I can always get closer but it sure is fun ringing steel from a long ways off.I have two different 300wm I like them both for different needs. One I load a 180g nab and the other a 200g sierra game king both with h1000
