Hornhunter247 Report post Posted September 11, 2013 I've been in the market for a new scope for a long range gun I've been building up. I have found the minox 3-15x42 on sale for over half off. I was really thinking about the viper hs line originally, but love a few minox bino's I've had over the years. Does anyone use their scopes that could provide some input? jarheadhunter Report post Posted September 11, 2013 I have the Minox ZA5 in the 3-15x42. I don't know if I would really consider it a long range scope. It doesn't come with a turret set up even though I guess you could set it up yourself. The glass itself is really good. I currently have it on a 30-06 and really like it so far. I got it from camerland for under $200 I believe. Mine doesn't have the Side Focus which I would prob want if I were using it for a long range scope. If you have any other questions please let me know.
cohofishing Report post Posted September 11, 2013 I have the ZA 6-30x56mm. I wish I could say I am super happy but I am not. The scope glass is great and the 56 mm is huge. This does make the scope really bright and in low light conditions, it is great. I am not real happy with the eye relief. The scope itself is designed to sit way forward so you don't have to worry about recoil. Great idea but I find myself fiddling with it a lot. Target knobs are solid and protected, which is one of the reasons I bought the scope, but every time I use my zeiss, I find myself wishing I bought another one instead of the minox. Try one. The guys at carmeraland are great and will work with you are far as returns. They know that you can't really tell till its on a gun. Brent
Hornhunter247 Report post Posted September 11, 2013 Thea are the exact replies I was looking for. I have a few higher end scopes that I am really happy with, but had heard from a friend how great his minox scope is. They look like a solid product, and for the price look even better. But I think I'm going to stick with what I know. Thanks for the honest comments guys!
Schmitty Report post Posted September 12, 2013 I've got a couple ZA3 3-9x40's that I picked up cheap from Doug a couple years back. They've held zero and the glass is pretty nice. Factory turret would work in a pinch, but is far from ideal. Save up for a Zeiss Conquest HD5 with the target turrets. Looks to be the best bang for the buck in a LR hunting scope. Siwash Report post Posted September 16, 2013 I don't remember the model, but I had a Minox 2-10x42. Good glass, it tracked well and I wanted it for an elk rifle but no matter what I did I could not get the eye relief right at 2-4x so I traded it to a friend.
