Cactus ID

Recommended Posts

I work for a cactus nursery in Tucson, unfortunately I haven't learned all the names yet but I just asked another guy and he said its either a rainbow cactus or cream lace cactus. Apparently they are very similar. If you want one and are afraid to dig it up I could have some delivered to whatever is your closest Home Depot and they'd retail for about $8.

No problem, if you decide you want me to order some for you just let me know which store is closest for you and I will let you know when they will be there.

Its a rainbow hedgehog cactus. I used to see those in 34A all the time when I lived down south. They are only "protected" in that you need a salvage permit under (I think that's the right permit) the Arizona Native Plant Law from the Arizona Department of Ag. If you have access to one from a nursery, that's better and easier. Miss seeing those!

the fruit from these cactus are very tasty. I found one on my property this weekend and after sampling it myself, was able to convince my 8 yr old to try it. even she thought it tasted good.
