ylclaret Report post Posted September 7, 2013 I work for a cactus nursery in Tucson, unfortunately I haven't learned all the names yet but I just asked another guy and he said its either a rainbow cactus or cream lace cactus. Apparently they are very similar. If you want one and are afraid to dig it up I could have some delivered to whatever is your closest Home Depot and they'd retail for about $8. ylclaret Report post Posted September 7, 2013 No problem, if you decide you want me to order some for you just let me know which store is closest for you and I will let you know when they will be there.
IA Born Report post Posted September 9, 2013 Its a rainbow hedgehog cactus. I used to see those in 34A all the time when I lived down south. They are only "protected" in that you need a salvage permit under (I think that's the right permit) the Arizona Native Plant Law from the Arizona Department of Ag. If you have access to one from a nursery, that's better and easier. Miss seeing those!
SunDevil Report post Posted September 9, 2013 the fruit from these cactus are very tasty. I found one on my property this weekend and after sampling it myself, was able to convince my 8 yr old to try it. even she thought it tasted good.
