I am having a rough go, and my first elk tag is already extremely stressful. My girlfriend is 36 weeks pregnant and not too stoked on the idea of me being 4 hours away and in sketchy phone service, and on top of that as I was trying to get ready today my sprinklers came on randomly so I go to check out the timer and re-program it and the timer just stops working. Put new batteries in it and it won't even turn on. Hop into my daily driver to run to Lowes and get a replacement, and when I come out, truck won't start! So now I'm waiting for my mechanic buddy to show up... Good thing I was planning on taking my other truck anyway but geez.... I hope I can get a good bull early and make it all worth it!

I had the same thing happen to me in 2010. My hunt started the 9th, I hunted until the 11th, came home, my daughter, Aiyana, was born on the 13th. I took care of her and my son until the 15th to give their mom a breather. I went bck up the 15th and tagged out on the 16th! I thought it was a great compromise, I was there for them and I got to hunt. She, however, WAS NOT happy. AT. ALL. Tread carefully my friend and check in morning, noon, and night.

I don't even have a tag, but I can't wait to get in unit 6a to help out a buddy who has the tag. I think I am more pumped than he is!! Good luck to all. I was lucky enough to get a tag last year, but I sure wish I had one this year oh well I have a deer tag to look forward to!!

Sounds like you need to plan a little better. Lol No getting married during hunting season and dont have kids during the season. I hope things get better for you and you get to put your tag around some bone. Good luck

I was in the same situation in 2009 but it was my first turkey tag had an ultrasound everything looked good and that was the day before the opener wife was hesitant but I got the go ahead fast forward to sat mourning got to the trailer a seen a text from my wife at 7 am saying her water broke well its 10:30 am I dropped everything and headed home from young made it to banner at i10 and McDowell in 1 hour 55 min walk in to her room washed my hands and my first daughter was born made it with five min to spare I don't think she would have ever let me hunt needless to say I don't hunt fall turkey anymore cause my little girls birthday that is until she is old enough to go with me . Not trying to give you second thoughts but make sure you camp where you have service and good luck with your hunt

Well yesterday was pretty much garbage, but we did eventually get my truck started and limped it home on three cylinders. Then while watering chickens, I just about stepped on a rattle snake! Haven't seen one of those on the property in over 15 years. Finally got to bed around nine thirty but felt like a kid on Christmas Eve and couldn't sleep. Up at one thirty, and I'm pretty sure I've got everything I need, now just a few hours of work and then I will be headed for my unit. Really hoping the next few days are better than yesterday. Thanks for all the kind words, advice and well wishes! Now let's get some big bulls down!
