Love the opening day of archery elk season more than any other day of the year!

KaibabHunter Report post Posted September 8, 2013 I'm deer hunting/elk scouting and found a herd of 40 + today. 2 nice bulls and I got within 30 yards of 1 on the walk out. Probably upwards of 60 elk seen today. The area stinks of elk. Was gonna leave it alone and not pressure em but I left my streamlight flashlight where I parked the ranger so I gotta go get it. Not a single bugle yet and I've been in 3 parts of the unit...

I am headed up to 5A this weekend to help some friends. What part of the unit are you staying in? I don't know yet. It depends on the road conditions. I am hauling my tent trailer and a Rhino in the back of my truck. I have a couple of spots picked out, one on the east side near the junction of the 82/704 Rds. and the other off of the 93 Rd near Willow Valley. If my girlfriend wasn't coming up next Sunday for a week I would take a tent and camp where I wanted to hunt but she likes some of the comforts of a camper. Phil Carr Report post Posted September 8, 2013 Headed up to 10 tomorrow. It has been a little quite the last 2 trips up there. Hopefully things will start to rev up. I plan on being camped up there until the last day if needed. It took me 14 years to get this tag and want to enjoy every minute.
out2hunt Report post Posted September 8, 2013 We will be in 5a for two weeks trying to fill two tags. One tag is a chore due to age and shooting capabilities and the other is a picky guy who wants giant 4ths, wide stance, and great tails. If I find any of the three I may shoot, but I am comfortable waiting for the ONE lololol. Yeah I am the picky guy
