GRONG Report post Posted June 19, 2004 (edited) Too late Mike, was out there all day today and found 9 sheds. 3 were new and I found the match to that killer 3 point only mine is a 4. Same kind of height on the tines just another 4" G4. I saw footprints so they must have been Lyle's. I spent all day out there, saw 3 snakes, went through a gallon and a half of water and 3 Snickers. I'll post pictures soon as I get them back. Just kidding! Man do I wish! I was up around the White Mtn's lakes pumping poo out of the porta jons wishing I was looking for that bad boy. Way to go Lyle, that is one freakin awesome antler. I know a certain antler buyer that would gladly give you a $5 bill for that beauty. Josh Epperson PS: Those GPS coordinates are for somewhere on the Tohono Oodam rez. Edited January 1, 1970 by Josh Epperson
BACKCOUNTRY Report post Posted June 21, 2004 Antlerboy, Sorry you had to pump the Poo this past week. I think some of the fumes might have gotten you a little turned around. My GPS cords, are no where near the Res. But if thats where you go a lookin, Enjoy!! LC
GRONG Report post Posted June 22, 2004 Lark you're too funny. I was totally messing with Mike saying those coordinates were from 36C. I have no clue where your cords are. You know, you kind of get used to the fumes after a day or two but you can never get used to the visuals. Josh
TREESTANDMAN Report post Posted June 22, 2004 Well, I just got back from the Tohono Oodam rez. Man that area has a good concentration of coues bucks. In order to hunt that area you have to be a tohono oodam tribal member I was told. I'm in the process of becoming an official tohono Oodam tribe member. TAM Report post Posted June 23, 2004 Hey Venadote, don't forget to get your Arizona tags too! Now that you are a member of the Tribe not only do you get to hunt the Rez as a resident, you also get to hunt on Arizona State land as a resident. That's two deer with one tank of gas! Guest 7x7 Report post Posted June 23, 2004 hey treestandman, i use it for pre-scouting. can't believe how well i know an area that i've never stepped foot in when i get there for the first time. i always print out and compare the arials to the topos. the zoom in and out feature is incredible. don't mean to sound like a geek, but all outdoorspersons should use it prior to an outing. couesarcher Report post Posted July 19, 2004 Question for all to answer. I have been scouting an area in 24a for about 2 months. Every time I go in there I see 4-5 does. I have never seen any bucks within this canyon area. I also have not been able to find any sheds. I was there yesterday, spent the first 2-3 hours of the morning glassing. Saw 5 does, no bucks. Spent the next 4-5 hours walking in the bottoms and in the ravines looking for sheds. Nothing. I'm starting to think the bucks are just not in this area. It is my understanding that bucks tend to themselves for much of the year. only joining the does for the breeding season, and then off they go again tending to themselves. It is also my understanding that coues deer are very territorial and will pretty much live and die in the same area (they typically won't travel far). I'm thinking I need to concentrate on the canyons surrounding the area with the does. Is this correct? Terry
