Attention Campers/Hunters New rule in affect on leaving Trailer in the woods

Recommended Posts

Great job, as it states right on the tag, "removal of this tag by anyone but the owner or owner representative is a class 2 misdemeanor..."

I'm really not sure how setting up camp (when pulling a trailer) is so much trouble that some use it as the reason to leave your trailers. I mean how hard can it be? Park it, unlock it, and maybe pull a couple of coolers out. People who tent it have to unload vehicles, put up tents, blow up air mattresses, etc.

It appears that most people dont like the law if it applies to them, but would like the law to be applied to someone who takes "their" spot. It used to be no problem in years past but, with more people wanting to camp in the woods it is going to get worse. And it seems that when people camp in the woods they are now needing to bring more people with them. Their camps now have the whole extended family-friends with tv, stereos, kids with their own quads, etc. The FS has to do something. And for some of you with the "but I want/need to do whatever" situation, the world doesnt revolve around YOU. Tip of the week= 72 hrs is 3 days. And that is from the time that the sticker is placed.

The problem seems that the FS only likes to enforce laws when its hunters. Labor Day weekend and the prior week FS wasn't doing any of this.. Didn't see a single FS truck around checking anyone. Quads, dirt bikes, etc very few were liensed. Idiots doing donuts on the roads going thought meadows not one FS truck anywhere to be seen.. Now it's elk season ill get checked a couple of times on the Polaris. And I better be on an open road..lol what a total joke...

I agree with this law. What's even funnier is hearing about people complaining about their trailers being broke into and destroyed when they leave them unattended. The funny thing is most of believe that this is because if reserving spots! Partially yes, but there has been a huge problem with people filing complaints about their belongings being stolen and vandalized. Well here you go, don't leave it and it won't be stolen or destroyed! Now not only is it illegal to steal someone else's property, but now it's illegal for you to leave your property unattended! I've been telling people for years to not complain when their trail cams and what nits get taken, as the best way to protect them from this is to stop you from leaving it there to begin with! And I hate seeing someone's empty trailer in any spot that I like to camp in. It gets real old seeing this every time I try to go camping. And yes I haul my trailer 750 miles each way, even if I'm coming back in a week.

Is your trailer not left unattended when your out in the field hunting??

The point made about those complaints from people getting ripped off was mostly last year in 5BN Ashurst lake area and some in 6A near the quiet areas. They got ripped off while they were out HUNTING!! Small generators tools anything not locked down.

So glad I tent hunt and get way off the main roads. There is no way I could camp on top of other people just to have the comforts of a trailer. I wouldn't want to worry while out hunting about getting ripped off so close to a main road either.

GBA it happens a lot more than you think. And a lot of this has come about from people getting their trail cameras ripped off. I'd be willing to be that AZ probably gets better than 1000 reports filed every year. And you know most of these people want the sheriffs dept to bring in helicopters, dogs, take finger prints, tire track molds and whatever else they think they deserve when they get something stolen. I hate thieves and hope they get caught every time, but a lot of this is preventable.
