Flash Report post Posted October 15, 2006 I'll probablly be hunting with a remington 7mm Mag this year and am wondering if anyone has a recommendation for what bullet to choose. I'll be hunting some thick stuff so a close shot is possible, but am planning it will be a typical shot, 250-350 yards. Thanks for the advise.

I use the hornaday 139gr boattail softpoint---It did the job last year at 339 yards---one shot---dead on.I tried multiple different manufactures rounds before hornaday and none were as accurate out of my rifle. hunter4life Report post Posted October 15, 2006 I am also a fan of Hornady bullets, but I usually use 160gr. bullets in the 7mm. A 140gr. bullet should be more than enough for a coues at the ranges you mentioned.
firstcoueswas80 Report post Posted October 15, 2006 are we talking to reload or factory? either way, i wuld look for a 139 interbond or a 140 accubond,
TAM Report post Posted October 16, 2006 I really like the Hornady Interbond bullets. They're a bonded bullet so you'll get controlled expansion even at close range. Also as mentioned above the Hornady spire points seem to be very accurate! I killed a mule deer at 380 yards with one of those a few years ago and the results were devistating!!! out2hunt Report post Posted October 16, 2006 Mine are interbond molys. Can anyone tell me the difference?
firstcoueswas80 Report post Posted October 16, 2006 the moly coating is the only difference. the bullet is the same, just the coating that is used to usually get more barrel life, and i have heard a FEW more FPS. i have also heard it is very tough to get it all out of a barrel that has gotten used to shooting moly bullets. i do not shoot moly from any of my guns
ghost hunter Report post Posted October 21, 2006 Don't they make a 7mm short action? If so, which would you chose?
RHINO Report post Posted October 24, 2006 We have played with the lost river bullet, xlc, xbt, accubond, and interbonds. We were abe to get more speed and better accuracy out of the 139 grain interbonds. It is also the lowest priced.
Couesdeer Report post Posted October 24, 2006 When I shot 7mag, I always had good results with 140 gr Nosler Ballistic Tips. Lately, I've been messing around with 7mm STW and 120gr Ballistic Tips. Awesome groups, but I haven't hunted with them yet; so I can't tell you about their performance on deer or deer sized game.
