Passing a tag to a child??

Quick question: I drew an October rifle deer tag. I was thinking of heading out archery deer hunting. If I were to tag out archery deer, could I still pass my October rifle tag to my Son who did not draw this year?

Good question. I doubt it, but I would also love to hear from someone who knows for certain. When do we get to see some pics of that buck?

Absolutely you can! Alls you have to do is sign the tag over to him. Im sure there are others here that can point you down the right path with specifics but you can give him your tag!

I believe if you were to tag out with the archery tag that cancels your oct. tag, because you are only able to take one deer... Per year....

yes you can. but why waIit do it anyway we need more kids hunting, be a good dad a pass it on, you can still hunt in december if you don't shoot 1 in the early hunt. do it

Yes it's legal. If transfered, the tag would then be HIS. Period. Almost like you never had it. Kind of a loophole but in the end, one deer per person doesn't change.

Been a while since I read it but I'm pretty sure it's any minor child or grandchild that you're legal guardian over, basically. So a little brother (unless you were his legal guardian??) wouldn't qualify.

only down to a youth hunter not an adult. you can donate it to make a wish. ive done that before and probably will have to do it with my sons kaibab tag this year because hes in wyoming in deisal school and can't have any absences

There is also Outdoor Experience 4 All. I had to donate an archery javelina tag a couple years back because my wife got really sick the only weekend I had open in January. I got ahold of Eddy Corona there and dontated my tag over to his group. TOP NOTCH outfit!

I have the same question but no kids to pass my WT 23 tag and My 22N Rifle bull tag to. Can i pass the tag to my wife? I just got notice I will be changing careers and most likely no time to hunt for 5 years

Tag Transfers

Under Arizona Revised Statutes and Arizona

Game and Fish Commission Rules there are

ways people can transfer big game tags to

minor children. A $4 transfer fee applies.

 

A parent, grandparent or legal guardian holding

a big game tag may allow the use of that tag by

their minor child or minor grandchild pursuant

to the following requirements:

 

• The minor child is 10 to 17 years old on the

date of transfer;

• The minor child has a vaild hunting or combination

license on the date of transfer;

• A minor child less than 14 years old has satisfactorily

completed a Department-approved

hunter education course by the beginning

date of the hunt;

• The grandparent, parent or the child’s guardian

must accompany the child in the field,

and must be within 50 yards of the child

when the animal is taken.

 

Once a tag is transferred at a Department office,

the original permittee may no longer use it.

 

A person may also transfer his or her game tag

for use by a child with a life threatening medical

condition or a qualifying permanent physical

disability. Consult A.R.S. 17-332 for more information,

or visit www.azgfd.gov.

 

Should you be unable to use your big game

permit, the Department is unable to reimburse

you for your fees or reinstate your bonus

points. However, you may donate your tag to

a nonprofit organization that provides hunting

opportunities to children with life-threatening

medical conditions or qualifying permanent

physical disabilities. The $4 transfer fee does

not apply to nonprofit organizations. You may

contact the following organizations to arrange

for a donation.
