couesbowhunter1 Report post Posted August 26, 2013 So i took Friday off of school to hunt with my buddy James and it was a decent day. By noon we were at around 35 deer so i lost track and we had already seen 5 different bucks but no opportunity for me. As we walked of a ridge i hear James draw back so I looked around and found the buck. I ranged him at 73 yards. Next you know i see an arrow fly. The buck jumped the string. So we continued the day and saw a few other bucks and still no shot. So Saturday we went out to another spot and found two little spikes. I drew back but yet again no shot. At this point my adrenaline is sky high. Then we drove to another spot and saw a buddy of mine and he had a buck glassed up but he already killed so his dad was hunting and his dad didnt want to go after them. So i set in on the stock. After getting around 100 yards from them they spooked. Now for the journey back. I finally got back and decided to try one last spot before the end of the day. So im chuggin' along and look over and see three bucks coming down a hill. There goes my adrenaline again. I get over to the spot i wanted to be and see white butts running in the opposite way i wanted. So i ran around and got in front of them again and they come into 24 yards and i picked the best shot of the three bucks and it happened to be the biggest one in the herd. I drew back and let her fly. "SWHACK"!!!!!!!!! I hit him and when he ran i saw blood pouring out of him as he goes over the hill. Good shot! I walked over to where he was standing when i shot and found my arrow! (My fletchings are 2 red and 1 white) I see 3 bright red flecthings and knew it was a good hit. So i gave him 30 minutes and started following blood. Im finding really good blood! I get to the top of the hill (20 yards from where i shot) and still had excellent blood! Then finally there he was piled up 50 yards from where i shot! Those Swhackers did a good job! I rolled him over and looked at my shot and then when i was gutting him i realized i smoked the heart! He isnt the biggest but for my first deer with a bow, IM PROUD! Thanks for reading! P.S. My phone died while i was gutting him so i couldnt take pictures until i got home!
