metau Report post Posted August 25, 2013 Was up in 7w yesterday, plenty of fresh scat and track, but only minimal on the elk rubs. Did find some good deer rubs though. Found several groups of cows and managed a blown stalk on a mule deer. At last light I spotted what I thought was a group of elk(or large rocks) at the treeline, but almost a mile away. Figured I would let out a cow call to see if something moved or my eyes playing tricks on me. To my surprise, they were indeed elk, and as they scattered into the trees, one of them was kind enough to let out a bugle. Figured that was a great way to end a day of scouting, but wish I would have laid eyes on some bulls.
