Pine Donkey Report post Posted August 24, 2013 My son Garrett shot his first bear last night right at dark. He found the arrow and a good blood trail. He decided to back out and return in the morning. On the mile and a half hike, he got caught in a hard downpour. When he and a friend returned this morning, all blood and tracks were washed away. They spent several hours searching the canyon it ran into and finally found it. He is pretty happy, but now has quite a pack in front of him.

tjhunt2 Report post Posted August 24, 2013 Congratulations to Garrett on a very nice bear. Sticking with it the next day after the rain wiped out the tail goes to show he is a very serious and dedicated hunter. You must be very proud of him I'm sure. Thanks for sharing that great picture. WHALE Report post Posted August 24, 2013 Nice bear. Would like to hear how he got the shot, water, spot&stalk, calling
Pine Donkey Report post Posted August 24, 2013 It was spot and stalk. He glassed some bears in the morning, and watched as the headed for the high country. He hiked in and waited for this one to feed back down in the afternoon. It came down one ridge over from where he was, but he kept taking and anle and closing the distance until he ended up 30 yards away.
