TwoGuns Report post Posted October 10, 2006 Went out with my dad this morning, and got into a good group of elk as they were moving to their beds. Dad has a bull tag and I had a cow tag. After giving chase for over an hour, I had just about given up when I decided to give it one more try. Crept up a small knoll, peeked over the top and there they were. Was able to sneak up and get to within 45 yards, and got a shot at her broadside just before she bed down. Arrow got both lungs and liver, Anyway, had a great day wih my dad, and killed my first elk with my bow. Hopefully not the last. Here she is. and here is what my broadhead looked like afterward. TwoGuns Report post Posted October 10, 2006 Great Job.. What type of broadheas is that? jason Jason, that is a Satellite Titan 125 grain 4 blade broadhead. I really couldnt believe the damage done to it, but it really did a great job on the elk. She was lights out within 60 seconds. Damage must have been done by rib on entry. Red Rabbit Report post Posted October 11, 2006 TwoGuns, Congrats on some fine eating. 11M? Now for your dad to finish out on a high note. I'm not liking the looks of that broadhead if it was only a rib. Did you come across the broken blade upon cleaning her? Doug~RR

TwoGuns Report post Posted October 13, 2006 TwoGuns, Congrats on some fine eating. 11M? Now for your dad to finish out on a high note. I'm not liking the looks of that broadhead if it was only a rib. Did you come across the broken blade upon cleaning her? Doug~RR Doug, we were in 11m, and we are still after a bull for my dad. he has had 3 or 4 shots so far and just had some bad luck. anyway, we still have 6 days and should be ok. as for the Titan broadhead, it did break off a blad and i did find it in the liver i think, and took it out. I will talk to the butcher tomorrow and find out what he could see as far as what it might have hit. I think the ferrul on the broadhead is aluminium, so it probably bends pretty easy. It is an older Titan, and I think the newer ones have a more stiff ferrul. Still trying to figure that out. Darren
