help with spotting scope

Recommended Posts

I'm meeting a guy tomorrow to look at a swarovski spotting scope. He says its a hibacht 20-60x60. Can anybody tell me what this scope is worth if in good condition? Is there anything special I need to know about the scope before I look at it and make an offer? I have no idea how old it is. Im under the impression that the hibacht scopes are older glass and are not made anymore. Will swarovski still warranty them? I don't believe that the current owner of the scope knows much about it and Im thinking that I may be able to get it for cheap. Thanks a lot!

I've not heard of a 60mm Swaro scope (that does not mean much). Could be the older ST or AT 80 which are gray in color. Great scopes which usually go for $800 +/-. HD go for a little more.

You might consider getting a serial # and emailing Swarovski USA. Likely they'll get back to you within 24 hours. Good luck.

Do you already have 15x binoculars? Once I got a pair I sold my spotting scope on ebay, but I am not a big trophy hunter who need to judge antlers from a long ways away.

I will probably not keep the spotter. I have a vortex spotter that serves me well. But if I can get a good deal I'll probably buy the spotting scope and trade it or sell it for a pair of 12x50s. So I guess a good question would be how much could I expect to get for a hibacht scope in good condition.
