I am hitting the archery season hard this year but if by chance I am not tagged out I would be interested. I have only researched the area and will most likely not make it down to scout but I will hunt hard for 4 days by backpack most likely. I will let you know by PM later if I will be going down there. I already have a plan of attack and base camp planned out and have been on the phone with the Rangers down there. I have maps on order and will scout all I can form home and by map. elkaholic Report post Posted August 5, 2013 area south of portal burned a few yrs back - camp by entrance to horseshoe canyon not sure about roads lots of rain down that way this yr E ZENT RD last time I was in there when roads were good we saw deer . I like the huge metal tank about 2 1/2 miles in bear sratches all over the side where they were climbin in and out . another 2 miles in we took the road north do not remember how far we went but saw deer and some bear / lion tracks 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Gut Pile Report post Posted August 9, 2013 I hunted 29 the year before last. Southside of the Chiri's enter through the town of Portal. Saw lots of good deer near Paradise or you can take the Snowline Trail up and glass for deer there as well. The last couple of days I flipped sides and hunted the North side of the Chircahuas saw some deer but there is a lot of private land which makes access tough. alexjh1 Report post Posted August 11, 2013 You can also find a quite a few campers off of turkey creek road, if you wanted to just be around some other hunters.
