WTB: Youth Rifle

Recommended Posts

Looking for a youth rifle for my son who is 10. He got drawn for deer (junior hunt). This will be his first hunt. Would like to get a caliber that he could potentially use on a juniors elk hunt in the coming years.

I have a savage 110f (i think) that you may want to consider. This rifle has a cut down thumbhole stock, leupy bases and rings, a cheap scope and is well used by countless kids. I have owned it since 1980. I has shot well in the past(750+yds). Collecting dust now. It's in Flagstaff....$175.00

If you want something to shoot both deer and elk with look to a 7-08, 308, or 270. You will probably have to put a brake on any of those for a 10 year old, but they will all work well. Lots of good manufacturers, but I really like the stuff Tikka is putting out for the money. Their T3 Super Lite Stainless is very lightweight and has a great trigger.
