capoeirajosh Report post Posted August 2, 2013 Do you need to buy a pair of vortex new in order to have the awesome warranty?
Jimmyc Report post Posted August 2, 2013 No mention of the leupold wind river cascades? They are under 400$ all day. I've never looked thru leupold and vortex side by side. But... I used the leupold wind river 10x42 for a couple of years until I came across the swaros. Just my experience. Good luck. Tri pod an absolute for sure as well. capoeirajosh Report post Posted August 3, 2013 Awesome! I am liking the sound of vortex more and more. I am pretty sure I am gonna just save up the extra couple hundred bucks and go with the viper hd's in 10x42, unless I found a used pair on thr classified that were a bigger magnification for around the same price. sjvcon Report post Posted August 4, 2013 Doug with Cameralandny.com is very helpful. They sell Vortex, and that is probably the best bang for the buck. Swaro's are the best, but out of your price range. Zeiss is right up there ... also out of your price range unless you find a pair on sale at Sportsman's that is 2-3 years discontinued. The only other thing I would look at in your pricepoint would be the Nikon Monarch 5. If you can bump your price up a little the Monarch 7. When I compared the 7's with the Viper HD's, the 7's were definitely brighter, sharper and had more vibrant colors. All that said, I ended up picking Razor HD's over Conquest HD's, but I had about $1200 budgeted.
