CouesFanatic Report post Posted July 28, 2013 I have 2 bulls I want to get up on the wall. What kind of holes does the skull hooker make in the wall? What bolt/screw do you use and does it go in a stud?
WHT_MTNMAN Report post Posted July 28, 2013 I used the small ones for coues and mulies...I don't think you could do it without being in a stud..2 pretty good screws/bolts into a stud should work..

CouesFanatic Report post Posted July 29, 2013 what size of lag bolt do you guys recommend?
Flatlander Report post Posted July 29, 2013 Studs are 3-1/2" plus a 1/2" of drywall so a 3" lag will give you about all you can get.
resolute Report post Posted July 29, 2013 Studs are 3-1/2" plus a 1/2" of drywall so a 3" lag will give you about all you can get.this is what I would use also....just beware of wires and plumbing lines in the wall cavity. You can buy a 15 dollar stud finder that will let you know if wires are I the stud...as a GC, I assure you this is cheap insurance.

123456 Report post Posted July 29, 2013 With lag bolts, I like to pre drill them with a drill bit that is about half the size of the lag bolt. Then if you have it, I use an impact driver with a socket to screw them in. If not, use a ratchet and socket.

CouesFanatic Report post Posted August 4, 2013 Well, I just spent two hours messing around with these things and I can't seem to get them to work. Since the beams are long on my bull I have to tip the nose down and when I do that, the bracket keeps slipping off of the skull. The three prong does not fit to the skull very well. I can't have that kind of instability holding two bulls above where my kids play every day. I don't think these are going to work. Has anyone mounted elk with these? I like this new plaque a lot, but the price is too high imo.
