36C sucks!!! Everyone will tell you to backpack up to the top of the mountain and act all John Wayne when you could hang out down low and find much bigger deer off the roads before you even get to the mountain range. On the early hunt if I hadn't been there before and not scouted other than internet stuff, I would shoot the first 90 inch gross deer I saw closest to the roads in what most people down there call CARP country....

Bret, you gotta get up hig enough so you can glass back and see the IA's stream past your camp and truck. ;)

Andy,

THe whole range is covered with coues. Coues are on the flats like Bret said, but can be harder to hunt in the flats once at eye level. I'd be apt to pick a canyon and spend the time looking for deer, their patterns and any good bucks, and how to hike around to different vantage points, rather than running around the whole unit.

THe AZGFD site gives the mile markers to access each canyon.

everything seems about right, except your illegal count and water jug count seems extremely low

I've been scouting for a couple of days with some moderate success. I've scouted mostly in the 1st 15mi from the border. Since this is my 1st time in 36c--I've concentrated a lot getting the lay of the terrain and access. Lots of illegal's and BP. The chopper flying around could run some of the game out--maybe higher, as they are buzzing the flats. Saw 2 roundups in 2 days and even managed to sic the BP on some. I think a good bet would be to get away from the roads and let the people who hang around the roads run them to you. Like everyone says--glass, glass and glass some more Lots of dry tanks too--but we have had some T-Bumpers the lst coupl of days--but not enough to do any good.

Good luck--might run into you-- B)
