hunter07 Report post Posted October 2, 2006 well i wasnt really scouting but i managed to see some nice deer anyways. Me and a couple freinds were out pigeon hunting and ran into a group of 3-4 deer we barely got a look at after a shot from the 12 gauge spooked them. then maybe a mile away we spoted what i thought was a very nice 3x3 coues until we saw the monster buck that came out of the bushes behind him. And we were in an area that isnt really known for that big of a buck. then a little later on we spotted a doe. Pretty good trip considering that we were out there for only 3 hrs and were looking for pigeions. Good luck everyone.
jgabler Report post Posted October 3, 2006 I don't know how long you have hunted 24A for, but I have hunted it all of my life and have been really impressed with the size of some Coues' all over the unit. I have seen some pretty decent bucks where I never would have expected them to be. Good luck on your hunt.
ultramag Report post Posted October 4, 2006 that sound good to hear I have a 24a tag this year and since elk is over for me I will make a few trips real soon I cant wait.Do you have a tag?
Coach Report post Posted October 4, 2006 IMO, 24A Dec was and still is one of the best hunts available in AZ. I'm curious to see how the November hunt goes, but with all those tags mixed in with mulie and quail hunters, I'm guessing it's going to be a hard, frustrating hunt. I'm glad you found some good ones while out and about - especially since it sounds like they may be in an area that will get less pressure. Keep us informed as you continue to scout, and good luck on your hunt!
hunter07 Report post Posted October 5, 2006 Yes i have the tag, and the pressure might be a problen but i have a pretty good idea where they will be inless the weather changes and it gets real cold then it might be a bit different.
hunter07 Report post Posted October 10, 2006 Well i went back out this morning looking for a bear, i didnt find one but did see alot of deer. 14 in all. 4 stupid spikes and i do mean stupid they were right off the road and just standing there staring at us and when i hit my predator call to scare them away they took a couple steps in our direction and casually walked off. I will bet those deer wont last long on opening morning. The rest of the deer were does and 2 fawns. The hunt starts in exactly 1 month. Im Excited!!! DesertDiesel Report post Posted October 11, 2006 My 10 year old and 15 year old each have Nov tags in 24a. Don't know where I will be yet in there as I don't know much about 24a. Hopefully I will fill my bear tag this weekend and then can get over to 24a for some scouting.
