Mt lion meat?

Recommended Posts

Your talking about eating an animal who's diet is mainly tasty deer.

Good point! I kind of just assumed you couldn't eat them, but if eating them is an option, then maybe I will shoot one if the opportunity presents itself.

I never thought I could kill a coyote just to kill it until I saw the trail cam footage of them taking down an adult bulk back east somewhere in a magazine. It was sick and not in a good way. I passed once prior on a yote from a tree stand, but I won't pass again. Most predators are pretty smart and if you can outsmart them on their ground, it says something about you :o)

I've eatin lion, it's sweet and very tasty!! I've eatin coyote stew/green chili. I kill jack rabbit and cotton tail year around around the house and make burger and stew meat. I've never shot a skunk or a coati but I'd pry try it. I don't eat it cause I have to, I eat it because I'm a cheap sun bit(h and enjoy natures bounties. If push ever comes to shove in this country I'll be used to eating whatever protein is available and not have to think twice.

This subject gets under my skin. Most people who claim it's nasty have neither tasted it or only complain about the THOUGHT of what they're eating, not the actual taste. It's as mild as any game meat out there. Period.

But I think what bothers me more is the question itself of "can you eat lion??". It usually implies that the majority feel you can't. And with every stereotype there's some truth. And the thought of people killing one of the neatest huntable animals in the world, let alone our state, and NOT consider eating it is inexcusable.

But hey, that's my opinion.

in a hot wok with oil, add cubed meat, bell pepper, onion and whatever seasoning you like. Cook medium or medium rare, a hind quarter in foil and wet burlap cooked in a pit for a few about 6 hours will make tacos BBQ meat burros or whatever you want.

Prickly Pear marinate overnite sear it on a very hot grill, then crock pot it with lots of sliced green/bell peppers and a few onion slices 4 to six hours until tender! Salt to taste....!The trick to this recipe is to use no garlic...Garlic destroys the milder taste of green/bell peppers...The Prickly Pear & Green Peppers compliment each other! I am a garlic lover so this concept was difficult to accept...This recipe is good for pork or chicken also!

I've eaten meat from my mountain lion, bobcats and African lion, and all were good. No surprisingly, all had the same distinctive flavor.
